Multiple on ice coaching options. We offer private, semi-private, and group skates. The focus is to work on our weaknesses, polish up our strengths, and continue to learn. The goal is to come out of each lesson a little better than when we started. We will work hard and enjoy the process every ice time. Along the way we will create strong relationships so that every goalie feels supported during their journey.

Online Video Analysis

Online video review consists of breaking down past performances to understand what we need to work on, what went well, and what we can do to give ourselves a better chance at succeeding going forward. As goalies we need to train our brains as much as we train our bodies so we can improve our goalie IQ. Understanding certain patterns and reading plays at a quicker pace will give us a better chance at succeeding.

Mentorship + Advising

In a world of many goalies and not so many spots, we offer advice and provide goalies with different opportunities. Ultimately it is up to the goalie to earn their position but we can help each goalie and their family navigate through different options. After spending time playing in various leagues and multiple countries, our staff has created a strong network that can serve as an asset for our client’s.

About Eagle Eye Goaltending

Founded in 2025 by Head Instructor Riley Sims. Riley is currently in his 4th year at Mount Royal University where he studies business and plays on the men’s hockey team.

Introduction

Riley grew up and started playing goal in the Edmonton area. After leaving home at the age of 14 he has played in various different leagues across North America such as the AYHL, Tier 1 Elite League, ECEL, EHL, NCDC, NAHL, and USports. This history gave him first hand knowledge about the hockey landscape in both the USA and Canada.

Playing History

Riley first started coaching goalies at the age of 16. Now at age 25 he is closing in on 10 years of experience. He has coached with different companies such as Level Up Goaltending (St. Albert, AB), Stop It Goaltending (Boston, MA), High Performance Goaltending (Wisconsin), GDI (Calgary, AB) and more. Riley has a passion for coaching as much as he does playing. Guiding the next generation is very valuable to him.

Coaching History

At Eagle Eye Goaltending we value integrity, respect, accountability, leadership, and confidence. Our goal is to equip every one of our goalies with the tools to be successful not only on the ice, but off the ice as well. High quality character bleeds through on ice success.

Our approach to coaching is simple. We don’t try and change too much of our goalies game as everybody play’s a little different, but we implement a few standard principles that have shown to be effective at all levels of play. As the game keeps changing we stay curious and continue to learn so we can adapt. However some things never change such as hard work, attention to detail, never giving up, and attitude. We push our goalies while still enjoying the process. There is no single way to play the position so we advise our goalies to take what works for them and leave behind what doesn’t. We look forward to creating relationships with new goalies and doing what we can to help them succeed.
